In-Home, Private Tutoring in Queens and Nassau County, New York

School is challenging. That's the way it's supposed to be. Students learn best when they are challenged.

Sometimes, however, even good students struggle with their studies. And because learning builds upon itself, students who fall behind often fall even further behind as time goes on. Eventually, many of these students simply give up and stop believing in themselves.

That's where I come in. I have more than two decades of experience as a teacher, corporate trainer, and tutor, and I've learned how to connect and bond with students who are struggling. Using my own experiences as examples, I establish a bond with the student and become a learning mentor, not just a tutor. In addition to tutoring in specific areas such as algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, I also provide training in general study skills including time management, active listening, and organization to all of my students. These skills will help them succeed in their studies for all of their academic lives.

I provide individualized, in-home tutoring in math, reading and writing skills, and technology. My services include both remedial tutoring for students who have fallen behind, and enrichment for students who want to expand their skills beyond what is offered at their schools. I also provide tutoring for adult learners enrolled in online, correspondence, or other distance-education schools, as well as those who need to develop competency in specific, work-related math skills. As a Certified Technical Trainer (CompTIA CTT+), I also provide individual instruction in technology-related subjects.

The tutoring services I provide include (but are not limited to):

• Math tutoring (remedial, enrichment, and career)
• Preparation for the ACT, PSAT, and SAT college entrance examinations
• Preparation for the TACHS, CHSEE, and SHSAT high school entrance examinations
• Preparation for the New York State Math Regents examinations

I also can design customized programs to address specific areas of competency required for career advancement, professional licensing examinations, or specialized aptitude tests such as the the NCLEX-PN, NCLEX-RN, NET, RNEE, PSB, TEAS, or DET examinations.

Most importantly, I teach students that it's not all about improving their grades. It's about developing the ability to learn how to learn. This means understanding the logic and concepts behind what is being studied so future learning becomes natural and instinctive, rather than laborious and painful.

I provide tutoring in Northeastern Queens, including Bayside, Bellrose, Clearview, College Point, Douglaston, Floral Park, Flushing, Forest Hills, Fresh Meadows, Glendale, Little Neck, Maspeth, Middle Village, Ridgewood, Whitestone, and Woodside; and in Nassau County, including Floral Park, Franklin Square, Garden City, Great Neck, Manhasset, Mineola, New Hyde Park, Port Washington, Roslyn, Sands Point, and Williston Park.
